Cavalry is a user experience design and software development team that builds customer-facing solutions for the insurance world. We primarily operate in the South African and European motor sector where we focus on new customer acquisition, upselling and retention within the insurance lifecycle.
What does that mean? Basically we’re in the business of automation.
We take processes that were typically driven by call centers and replace them with technology. Our tech enables customers to sign up for an insurance product online, self-inspect the assets they want to insure and make amendments to their policies. We also provide the insurers with data on their customers that allows them to better understand their users and automate the upselling and cross selling of products.
What are we looking for? We’re looking for full stack developers (mid through to senior) to join our team and help us build out our product offerings and execute on our strategy. The productization of our technology is in the early phases so there’s space to influence the trajectory of these systems as they get traction in the market.
Are we a start up? No, Cavalry is part of the Cardinal Group of Technology Companies that specialize in insurance. See https://www.cardinal.co.za/ for more info. The greater group is based in South Africa, Mauritius and the UK.
What type of people would be a fit? We’re looking for developers who want to work in a small and focused team. Ideally with experience in a product based environment but it’s not crucial. The work will be made up of new product feature development and support of existing systems. The position is fully remote friendly with the option to make use of our shared offices when the environment is more conducive to office-based work.
Mid-level full stack web developers are responsible for assisting with the development of Cavalry’s core products (Quote & Bind, SelfService, WebInspect), and implementation and maintenance of client product instances, using a combination of scripting languages and maintenance techniques. They work under the supervision of senior developers, with the assistance of other mid level developers, to implement coding, testing, design adjustments, roadmap updates, and client reviews. They also liaise with stakeholders including Project Management, and Clients, to facilitate specifications gathering and setting delivery expectations.
